Abstract: Innovation is the first driving force for development and plays a key role in promoting high-quality urban economic development. How to transform the advantages of science and education resources in colleges and universities into the advantages of local innovation and development, so that the innovation and entrepreneurship education in colleges and universities can serve the local economic development, is an important research topic for the coordinated development of colleges and universities and local governments. Nanjing has a large number of colleges and universities, and the local government is committed to lead the construction of a national innovative city. Taking Nanjing as an example, this paper analyzes the current situation and shortcomings of innovation and entrepreneurship education in colleges and universities serving local economic development from three dimensions of government, colleges and universities and promotion methods, and puts forward policy suggestions on how to better serve local economic development.
